CTY SERVICES

Dispatch

“Crew 12, tree down on Maple Street.”

City Services is a co-op game for up to four people. You and your friends are the town’s public works crew, taking calls from dispatch and trying to get each job done before the clock runs out.

What a shift looks like

You start in the yard. Someone picks a work order, everyone piles into the truck, and the radio starts handing out jobs, like a leak at Oak & 3rd or a couch dumped in an alley. There are 22 of them around town.

Each job is a short checklist and a timer. Logs are heavy, the hose kicks if you open the hydrant too fast, and the couch needs two people. Whatever you clear away goes back to the yard at the end of the day.

When it’s over you get a clipboard with the score and a title for each worker. Good enough for government work!

Version 0.2.2: a full settings screen (display, graphics, separate volumes, sensitivity, field of view), key rebinding, a mic test, and a version check when joining. Late arrivals spawn by the truck, lost tools get tagged, first-time tips, and F12 screenshots.

Version 0.2.1, now on Mac too. Fixes from the first two-player shift: joining players can drive a loaded truck, higher jumps into the truck bed, calls spread around town, sharper name tags, and the end-of-shift screen fits wide monitors.
Sep 29
Voice settings on the title screen. The truck now only flings people it actually hits. Fixes for playing again after a shift.
Sep 28
Online play with crew codes, proximity voice chat and the crew radio. Crew customization, traffic and pedestrians, four new jobs and optional chaos modifiers. Cleanup now has to be hauled back to the yard.

CityServices-mac.zip Version 0.2.2 · macOS 12 or later, Apple Silicon or Intel · 85 MB

  1. Windows: unzip it anywhere and run CityServices.exe. The build isn’t code-signed yet, so SmartScreen will probably stop you. Click More info, then Run anyway.
  2. Mac: unzip it and move CityServices.app to Applications. It isn’t notarized yet, so macOS blocks the first launch. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.
  3. Everyone in the crew needs the same version, or joining won’t work. Mac and Windows players can play together.

It’s an early build, so expect bugs.
